Don Kaluaopele Hugo Sr 75, of Kailua passed away December 27,
2018 with the love of his family at Queens Hospital. He was born
October 13, 1943.
Don is survived by son Don Jr (Amy), hanai son Stan Kua (Cathy)
Daughters Donyne Hacoba (Reid), Randi Cambra (Braddah),
Michelle Cortez (Jason), and Carolyn Hugo (Brian). Sister Clara
Seda , Sister in law Julie Beth Hugo. 20 Grandchildren, 13 Great
Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews.
Don is proceeded in passing by the love of his life Carol Hugo.
Parents Thomas and Clara Hugo Sr, Brother Thomas Hugo Jr,
Sister Donna Hugo and Precious Angel Great Granddaughter Dallas
Hugo.
Don attended Kamehameha School and later graduated from
McKinley High School. After graduating Don went into the United
States Navy where he was active duty on the USS Kitty Hawk and
served in the Vietnam War. In the time following he began his career
as a Rigger at Pearl Harbor.
Don had a passion for coaching sports which he coached generations,
countless hours, and for many years. He believed in discipline, hard
work, and quitting was never an option. He was hard core and
competitive but laid a foundation not only when you played the game
but later in life when you have children of your own. Five months ago
he was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer. He fought every
challenge cancer presented him with the same attitude he expected
when he coached , theres no such thing as quitting.
Don is reunited with the love of his life Carol , You will be missed
dearly and loved Forever.
